Outdoor Locations

I love photographing pets in the great outdoors! On-location shoots allow your pet to be themselves, to run, jump, play and explore.

Here are some of my favourite locations, but you’re also welcome (and encouraged) to think about outdoor spaces that are special to you and your pet. Do you have a favourite trail or park? A pond your pup loves to swim in, a tree your adventure cat loves to climb? I’d love to photograph your animal in its element!

Rescheduling – We do our best to come up with times that will work for all of the members of your family that will be at the session, but sometimes with outdoor sessions Mother Nature doesn’t always cooperate. It’s a good idea to leave a few open days near your session date just in case of rain. Also, I know that life happens, so if you or your pet are feeling under the weather, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can find an alternate date.

Here are some of my favourite locations to get your creative juices flowing!

The Trailway

THE POND

This location contains a few little ponds with both rocky and sandy outcroppings, with big beautiful skies.

THE GRASSES

There are lots of grassy and wooded areas with beautiful wildflowers.

THE RIVER

A river runs through the trailway, with a nice shallow bit for sunset images.

THE UNDERPASS

The Arboretum

THE TRAILS

This location contains countless walking trails, with all different sorts of backdrops for your images.

THE WOODS

There is a huge wooded area with mature trees, interesting moss and rocks.

THE MEADOW

The Arboretum has tons of grassy areas, full of sunlight and wildflowers.

THE GARDENS

This location also has manicured gardens, including a hedge, Japanese garden, and various benches,boardwalks and bridges.

The Lookout

THE LOOKOUT

A beautiful hilly section of the trail provides the perfect spot for sunset snuggles.

THE TRAILS

This location has a ton of trails, some open, some wooded, with gorgeous backdrop options all year round.

THE GRASSES

Many of the trails in this location are lined with tall grasses, full of sunlight breaking through.

THE MARSHES

The trailway has a large marsh area with a boardwalk bridge, as well as two small ponds.

The Quarry

THE WILDFLOWERS

There are tons of gorgeous clearings with all kinds of wildflowers and beautiful foliage.

THE TALL GRASSES

This location has a huge trail loop with lots of open areas for running and jumping!

THE WOODS

There are quite a few rocky wooded outcroppings, perfect for showcasing your pet’s adventurous side.

THE WATER

The quarry has a couple of small swimming areas for those pets that love to get wet!

The Reservoir

THE PINE FOREST

A stunning pine forest with lines of trees with perfect pockets of light peaking through.

THE TRAIL

This location has a loop trail through the woods, with mature trees, beautiful grasses and wildflowers.

THE FIELD

The trail opens up to a sun-filled farmer’s field, perfect for light and airy images.

THE BEACH

The tiny beach area in this location gets perfect light at sunset, and is shallow at the entry points for wading in.

OUTDOOR SESSION TIPS

LONG LEAD
If you have a long leash for your pet, please bring it along! Long leashes allow us to do all sorts of fun action shots, all while keeping everyone safe.

CLOTHING
If we’re out trekking in the bush, make sure to wear comfortable shoes, and clothing that will hold up in the weather. You might be down in the grass with your pet, so if you want to protect your clothing, please bring a blanket that goes with your outfit.

WEATHER
Since we’re subject to Mother Nature for our outdoor sessions, please let me know if your pet has any sensitivities to the elements. We want to keep your pet as comfortable as possible for their big day!
